The Seelbach Hilton is equal parts historical landmark and architectural masterpiece. This lavish, turn-of-the-century Beaux Arts Baroque hotel opened in May of 1905, drawing an incredible 25,000 visitors. A 1907 expansion included the famous Bavarian-style Rathskeller, decorated with rare Rookwood Pottery. Today the Rathskeller remains the only surviving ensemble of its kind.

Because of its lavish elegance, The Seelbach has attracted celebrities of all kinds. Al Capone played blackjack here, never far from a series of secret passageways where he could make an escape if necessary. F. Scott Fitzgerald sipped brandy and smoked cigars here, once banned from the hotel after having "one too many." The Hollywood classic, "The Hustler," starring Jackie Gleason and Paul Newman features scenes shot in the old Seelbach billiard room (now The Oakroom, the hotel's 5-diamond restaurant). More recently, Billy Joel chose to stay at The Seelbach where he played piano and sang his favorites in the Old Seelbach bar to the delight of surprised guests.

The Seelbach offers meet and greet valet parking 24 hours a day. Complimentary shuttle service is also available to the Louisville International Airport from 6:00 a.m. - midnight. The Seelbach's recent renovation included an expansion of the fitness center, nearly doubling its size. Also all work stations are now outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment by Precor.
